What's going on everybody? This is an opportunity and today we're going to show you the best things to do in Bangkok. In this Bangkok travel guide, we're only here for 3 days and we made the most of it. This is going to be one of the best 3-day itineraries you've ever seen for Bangkok. We stayed along Sukum Vit Soy 26 at the Hilton Double Tree. What we're going to do is head out to the Grand Palace and go to the temples along the Chao Pria River early in the morning around 10:30. The earlier the better to avoid that Bangkok heat. >> So, we're here at the Grand Palace and >> in order to go inside, we have to get these pants for 300 B. >> So, I got to change from shorts to pants. 2XL. >> If you just wear pants here, you won't have to buy them when you get there. Otherwise, for 300 bot, you're going to get a nice pair of elephant pants. All right, so we're here at the Grand Palace. They say because it's Sunday, there's a ceremony going on inside here, but we're still going to try and go inside. We've got our elephant pants on. Got to wear pants when you come to the Grand Palace, but let's go inside. >> The Grand Palace is considered one of the top tourist destinations here in Bangkok, famous for the Emerald Buddha. So, the ticket actually cost 500 bot per person. I was told outside that I wasn't going to be able to go inside. So, there's people out there hawking, you know, say you can't go in, even though you can. So, uh, don't listen to those guys outside. What they're basically trying to get you to do is go in a tuk tuk ride around Bangkok's old town. And then that's what they're trying to sell you is a 500 bot tuk tuk ride and take you to a suit and do the whole thing, which is basically a gimmick. But either way, here we are in the Grand Palace. You can see lots of gold structures here, these temples. One more recommendation I would say don't come here during the weekend like we did because it's very busy. >> So the palace was built in 1782 and it was actually the official residence of the Thai king for 150 years. The design of the buildings are actually in the Aayutia style and some European influence you will notice throughout here. But they have that multi-tiered roof with those golden spires and intricate mosaics. Here they have the temple of the Emerald Buddha which is actually made of jade. It's not made of emerald. It's just green. This is a 300-year-old palace right here of the Thai kings. They don't live here anymore, but you can actually check it out. I was unable to film inside the buildings because it's not allowed, but you can film the outside. As you can see, after walking around the palace for about an hour, we decided to head over to the reclining Buddha, which in my opinion is even more awesome. And we found this tuk tuk driver who was really honest. I offered her 200, she said no, 100 bot. So, she's one of the honest ones. Oh, this is actually the temple of the reclining Buddha. So, let's go inside here. As you can see, you buy the ticket right there on the spot, but because it's the weekend, very crowded. You can see lots of cues. So, one thing I will say is cash is king around here. Every place takes cash. They rarely take credit cards at these uh booths. They might take credit cards, but most of the time it's cash only. This one was 300 bot per person. At this one, you weren't required to wear pants, but you do have to take off your shoes. And I also took off my hat. But the actual reclining Buddha itself is quite an impressive looking golden Buddha. I was really impressed with this one. So, no hats and no shoes are allowed in here, just so you know. >> The whole complex of Wat is interesting to walk around as well. They've got some fountains and gardens. They've got those demon slaying guardians that are outside the structures. You'll see those big tall Thai looking statues. >> So, we're going to go and get the boat that goes across the Sha Fry River to Watoon. We'll see if we can get the ticket. >> So, as you can see, in one afternoon, we're doing three different locations right here along the river. You could try and drive over there, but this is just so convenient and affordable. Why not? >> The boat is actually five bot per person. 10 bot for two people. It's a great price. >> As a matter of fact, anytime you get a chance to take a water taxi or go up and down the Chaire River, I would say do it because it's so much faster. You're just getting around all of that Bangkok traffic by taking the old superighways, right? The rivers. These were the original superighways of the world before roads. At this point in time, it was starting to get hot. It was about 12:30 in the afternoon. So, we knew after this one, we were going to have to head over one of those mega malls, which we'll be showing you in a moment. But first, we'll show you around water room, which basically means temple of the rising sun or the morning sun. Anytime you see that word watt, w a t that means temple. So, watt is the temple of the reclining Buddha. Watoon, temple of the rising sun. You guys know about Ankor Watt, which is another temple. So that word watt in Southeast Asia just means temple. All right, so we've arrived at Wateroon. We're going to go inside and see what they've got going on here. This is definitely one of the best temples in all of Bangkok. And running across the Chao Pra on that ferry, it's also part of the uh fun. Wateroon was built in the 17th century as a Buddhist temple, but it's named after the Hindu god Odon Aruna. The temple's famous for how the morning light reflects off its colorful porcelain structure. The large tower you see here at the temple represents Mount Miru, which is the center of the universe in Hindu cosmology. This temple here is open daily from about 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. But you should dress respectfully when you arrive. You don't have to wear the pants. For a couple hundred bot, you can actually dress up as a royal tie kind of costume. Women do it for about two or 300 bot. That's why you'll see lots of women in beautiful tie clothing. And you'll see them also using the umbrella because that helps protect from that bright Bangkok sun that you get around 1:00 in the afternoon. For me, I wore a long UV resistant shirt. You can see uh but uh however you're going to protect yourself with a hat or an umbrella, do take that into consideration. I would even say getting here at 8 or 9 in the morning might just be the best plan because the heat, I'm telling you, it really is difficult, especially when it's a blue sky day. I know blue skies are really good for taking pictures in Bangkok, but the cloud coverage actually keeps that sun at bay and makes it a little bit more tolerable. Beautiful temple nonetheless, and I hope you guys get to dress up in that traditional Thai clothing because I think that really takes good pictures. Well, after two temples and the palace, we've got a bit of a thirst issue. So, we're going to rehydrate with the coconut and then we're going to go down to Icon in a taxi kind of cool down. It's about 1:00 in the afternoon. We spent about 2 and 1 half hours going around. So, this will be perfect time to go to the mall Icon and get some lunchon. >> Coconut. We got a taxi. It's an electric one for 200 bot. Great price, too. All right. So, we've arrived at Icon. Let's go. It's good food. >> The name of the indoor floating market here is called Soukyam. So, if you want to try some exotic meats, they've got deer, ostrich, rabbit, spicy crocodile. Look at that whole crocodile right here. Straight off the old uh cayman squid with mala sauce. I'm going to get some Isan sausage here. I saw pork. >> 100 bot for Isan sausage. >> I've been in Thailand so many times. I eat a lot of Isan sausage. So, it's like my default when you even go to these markets. Although, there's so many different dumplings and spring rolls. You can really just try them all. Uh prices are going to be a bit more expensive inside of Soukam than you would find on the streets of say Shang Mai or at a night market, but it's a big mall. It's a luxury mall, so of course prices are going to be a bit more here. Great place to start if this is your first or second time to Bangkok. Yeah. So, you definitely got to bring your appetite when you come here because there's so much variety that you're going to want to try. You got a full stomach already coming here. No good. Come here on an empty empty stomach. The hard part really is finding seating around one of the food stalls. But a lot of the food you can just walk and eat. Uh it's not ideal, but that's always an option. Eison sausage is something you can easily walk around and eat. So, after enjoying some nice food down here at the Suksai, we're actually going to explore around the mall. Go to the upper levels. There's even a lookout point at the very top where you get this nice waterfall, but then when you go outside, you've got a view of the Sha Pria River. Really great views. That's what's coming up next. We're going to show you around Icon Sam. This is one of the best malls in the world. I don't know if you guys know that. Main reason is because it's so massive. It's filled with luxury brands, unique cultural integration like the Suksai at the bottom and then its positioning on the Xiao Pria River. Here is a look at that big waterfall I was telling you about on the fifth floor. So, we're a few floors up and then all of a sudden you come up to this unknown city on the upper level. So, you thought that the bottom was it? No. Yes. So, we're at the terrace at the top of the icon. Great views here. It's amazing. >> I mean, if you wanted to come here and just take pictures, you can. There's no charge to come up here. A lot of the rooftops in Bangkok don't have a charge, but you should buy a drink or something at one of the cafes. All right, we're going over to River City. Cross the river. Yeah, one time I made the mistake of trying to take a taxi across the river, but this time I know better. I'm going to take the water taxi across the river and save myself that pain in the butt traffic, especially at this time of day. Not much really going on at River City. It's just a marketplace, but we did catch a tuk tuk, which took us over towards Chinatown. Now, it's too early to go to Yao, but we ended up in another area. All right, guys. We're here in Chinatown. The best time to come down here is around sunset to the evening time. It's about 3:00 p.m., but we're still going to show you around. Tot Noi is actually a brand new area for Chinatown. It's not even really Chinatown. It's this whole other area to Lat Noi. And the cool thing about here, it's like an art district. We got a funny sign up top. I'm not going to tell you what it says, but something about going to Bangkok >> because it's got a lot of like graffiti and street art. It kind of reminds me a bit of Georgetown in Pinang, Malaysia, but this is probably even better. Um, I would say if you're coming to Bangkok as a first-time, maybe consider coming here in the evening time after its peak hours, probably about 5:00 onward. But really a cool place. I think a lot of young people really loved it over here, especially with all the cafes. So, what we're going to do now is we're actually going to head back to the hotel, freshen up, and then we're going to go out and do some nightife along Sukum Vit. Tonight's Sukum Vit, but coming up, we're going to be doing Kawasan. So, stick around for the video if you want to see Kowan Roads nightife. We're still going to show you that. It's just this night, Sukum Vit. Yeah. So, here we are at the High Regency. This is actually one of the best locations in all of Bangkok. They've got a great rooftop bar that overlooks Sukum bit down towards Soy 11. I would stay here a lot more than I do if they had a sauna or an axen. They do have a great pool though. But let's go up to the rooftop. I would say a trip to Bangkok without going to some of the rooftops would probably be an unfulfilled trip since Bangkok is known for its rooftops with great city views. So, it's called the Spectrum up here at the top of the Hyatt Regency. It's three levels. We're on the third level here. You actually have to take an elevator to get up to this one. There's one down below here and then another one down below here. It just cascades down. Really a great rooftop bar. If you look right over here, you have the Sophie. I would say the Sofatel and the Hyatt Regency are in some of the best locations along Sukum Vit. Probably doesn't get much better than that. So, two great rooftop bars in great locations. From here, yep, you guessed it. We're looking for a tuk tuk to go to another place. >> So, now we're going to go to Nana and we're going to take a tuk tuk to get there. Let's go. Bangkok. I love to get a suit or tailor custom shirt. This is a custom shirt right here. They got lots of these tailor down here around super shopping as well. Let's show you what they got. >> 200 m. 200 bot for Leo. I like Leo beer. >> Yes. >> Okay. Yeah. 200 B. >> It's okay. >> Well, now that I got some official Thailand gear going, I'm going to keep accumulating as I travel across Thailand. We're going to go all the way south to the islands, but we're still exploring Bangkok. Don't worry. Like, wait till you see those other videos. They're coming soon. >> Yeah, we're going to do a series of videos. Gulf of Thailand island hopping and then the Andaman Sea island hopping. So, look forward to those. We'll put links down below. All right. Well, we're going back on a tuk tuk and we're going to Soy 22. We're going to go check out the Emporium Mall. Actually, I think they got a rooftop bar over there that's really nice. the tribe. >> Yeah. >> Let's see if we can get over there today. >> Yeah. So, we're here at the M Sphere Mall. Let's see what's going on. They got the Chinese New Year dragon out already. Mphere Mall is one of the newer malls in Bangkok, especially right along Sukum Vit. I think it's only a year or two old. Great food court, lots of levels of shopping, but then at the top they have great rooftop bar kind of experience. Also other restaurants up there. I think it's level five. That one being the Tribe. We'll show you around there. They also have a DJI store. I was asking about the drones. I guess you need a license to fly drones in Thailand now. >> Yeah. So, we're now up on the fifth floor of the Mphere and we're going to show you Tribe. Tribe is basically like a rooftop bar, but it's got a pool. So, it's a bit of a club as well. You do have to pay an entrance fee or a minimum spend in order to get in here. Depending on where you want to sit is going to depend on the minimum spend. For example, if you wanted a sofa, it's a minimum spend of 4,000 bot. For a high table, it's a,000 bot. If you wanted a cabana, 10,000 bot. Just depends on where you want to sit. I would say this is a good idea for couples who are on a date. So we're up here where the sky train is. This is actually where you can get the sky train. This is Hong Kong. And over here you have Empire and you have Emporium right over here. So Empire Emporium. Two different malls. Really nice area. Pon is the sky train BTS station right here. One thing I really like about M4 is the Virgin Active Gym. This is one of the best gyms in all of Bangkok is right here in M4. All right, so now we're actually at an area known as Soy 11. This is one of the most famous roads known for its night cars, clubs. We're going to walk down So 11 right now. I hope you caught that. the spelling s o y. Nope, it's s o i. Soy. Soy means road. >> Yeah. So, soy 11 is actually a really long road. So, we're just going to get a motorbike for like 20 bot and he'll take us to the end. So, we're going to go to the end uh motorbikes. >> 20 bot comes out to like 70 cents. So, I'll gladly pay.7 cents to go up Soy 11 really quickly to get to where all the nightclubs are and the action. And then I'll take another one just back down to Sukum Vit for another 20 bot. I think it's a good value. Just make sure you're safe on that. Don't do anything too crazy. Of course, local drivers, whether they're driving for Grab or Bolt, they're really good at their job. I just don't like going long distance on a motorbike. All right, we're in front of Bunny Soy 11. This is one of many nightclubs here. You've got the Aloft Hotel right here. They've got levels nightclub. You can see the newly remodeled the loft. >> Well, after a good first day and a nice nightife, got some good food. We are starting the next day. Now, we are here at the Double Tree. This is a look at the pool. What we're going to do is actually take the sky train over to MBK and some of those moles. Here at the train, this is the BTS. I've got a little rabbit card. So, you need one of these and it costs about two to 30 hund bot and then you top it up and yeah, it's a great card to have. Saves you a lot of money. Now, you don't have to get the rabbit card. You can also get a single ticket or you can get an all day pass. The rabbit card is good if you plan to stay more than 3 days in Bangkok and ride the sky train often. You do need to present a physical passport though. The sky train in general is very economically practical. All right, guys. We've made it to where the malls are. Right behind me, we have Cyan Paragon. Right back there, they have Central World. If you look right over here, they have Scam Center, Scion Discovery all the way towards MBK. But yeah, really cool. We took the train down here. It only took like 10 minutes. Much faster than getting stuck in that sou Bangkok traffic. Yeah, inside Sam Paragon, they actually have Sea Life Aquarium. We're going to see how much it costs. It was actually crowded when we went down there, so I decided not to go, but I want to give you guys some additional information. Yeah, this is something fun to do in the middle of the day when it's hot. Uh ticket price is about 1,500 bot for adults, 1,200 bot for children. All right, guys. We are now at MBK Mall. This is one of my favorite malls for shopping and getting a lot of different things here. You get the uh bags. You want to get some suitcases, some clothing, cell phone accessories. They got it all here. So on level five of MBK, they have this like medical center area. They have a clinic here for laser. Then they have something for removing moles and they have facials. They have massage up here. Really a great place for like dental work. You can get your teeth whitened for a good price. Everything's up here. Yeah. So, I come here before with James and uh I removed some moles and some scars like scarring. He took good care of it. It was a really good price. >> Yeah. Yeah. For CO2 for we have the special price for you about 1,000 is only include the medicine also and the take care also. >> Thank you so much. >> Yeah. Level five, that's where you have all the medical stuff, dental, everything you could possibly need. Weight loss, crazy facials with collagen or gold mask, who knows? But yeah, after this, we got an appetite. Lots of restaurants in MBK. This is one of my favorite places to eat. I ended up going for Japanese barbecue. After this, we're going to head over to the Jim Thompson House. How much? How many minutes? Huh? How many minutes? >> 15 minutes. Too far. 10 minutes. I fun for you. Really fun for you. >> Tutuk drivers always have the funnest personalities. I always go back and forth with them as a part of it. All right, guys. We're here at the Jim Thompson house. We're going to go inside. This is an old house of Tai Silk. Long story short about Jim Thompson, he was an American who came out to Thailand and noticed Tai had very good silk, Thai silk. And the women that were producing it, were doing it from their house, and he ended up working with them to create the textile Tai silk. And it was exported around the world very famously. This is where he lived. He
